★Celbridge U13 LGFA Division 1 Champions★

A tough league campaign against top class opposition saw Celbridge win their matches and progress to the final against old rivals Maynooth.

The final had everything - physicality, skill and great scores. The game ebbed and flowed throughout with no more than a score between the teams for most of the match and both teams taking the lead at various times throughout.

With some super defending from both sides to shut down other scoring chances and some great saves by the two goalies, the half time score was 2-2 to 1-3 to Celbridge.

The last quarter started 3-5 to 3-3 to Maynooth. A few more hard fought points from Maynooth saw Celbridge go 4 points down with 10 minutes to go but the girl’s held their nerve and didn't let the heads go down. They dug deep and scored 1-3 to go 2 points ahead.

Both sides had chances to score and the game could have gone either way but Celbridge defended well. The final whistle went and after a nail biting last few minutes, the final score was 4-06 to 3-07 to Celbridge.

We would like to thank the team who put in such hard work to get to the final, with a special mention to Tara Kane who had to sit it out due to a fractured ankle, to the entire squad of U13 girls for turning up to training and matches week after week and putting in the effort and of course to the parents for all the support both on and off the pitch.

A big thanks also to the big crowd of supporters who turned up to cheer on the girls!
