Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha

We are saddened to learn recently of the passing of two men who soldiered on behalf of our club in various roles both on and off the field.

Brendan McAtamney was a fierce competitor but a genuine nice guy on and off the field. Brendan was part of both our 1986 winning junior and 1987 winning intermediate championship teams, scoring a goal against Clogherinkoe in the intermediate final and then going on to play senior. Brendan was very proud of his Armagh roots.

We send our condolences to Caroline, Eoin, Aoife, Éanna, Aisling and his extended family and friends at this sad time.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Michael Toomey became involved in our club after moving to the area. He was totally immersed in all the club activities and ensured that Celbridge GAA was front and centre in all he did at a time when the club was in a period of growth. Mick like so many of his fellow blow-ins at the time were an enormous asset to have.

Mick was part of the club executive and served as PRO in the early 90s. While he unfortunately missed out on the social media platforms available today, he used every means at the time to get the message out.

Mick was first and foremost a very proud Kilkenny man and was part of the 1962 All Ireland winning Kilkenny minor team.

We send our sympathies and condolences at this sad time to Denise in particular and to Mick's extended family and friends.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
