Kildare 1-21 Cork 1-13 Kildare shocked Cork in Thurles as Niall Kelly led the way with 1-4 Cork hopes of putting the disappointment of losing the Munster final replay defeat to Kerry quickly behind them were demolished by a rejuvenated Kildare in the fourth round of the qualifiers at Semple Stadium last night. A 1-21 to 1-13 win for Jason Ryan's side sets up an All-Ireland quarter-final against Kerry on Sunday next, and granted Kildare its first Championship win over Cork in 87 years. O'Grady stuck to Kingston like a limpet throughout in O'Connor Park, and his sticky man-marking job worked. Although Kingston managed a second half goal, it was about the only bit of space he was given in the entire match, as O'Grady led a very well-organised collective effort in shutting down the talented Kingston. Kildare's victory was built on solid defence, ultimately, and O'Grady was the leader at the back.
